This quotes enlightens that by doing an activity or occupation, not only you learn but you will improve your own health.

To begin with, the role of occupational therapy is to help people across their lifespan to participate in things they want and need to do by therapeutic use of daily activities(occupation).

Basically the goal of an occupational therapist is to assist the client  with their occupation, identify goal and work with them towards achieving them.

Now how is the profession that is well known for working in a physical environment related to mental health you ask?

OTs that work in mental health settings have completed additional training to develop skills to work with people who experience mental health issues.

People with mental health issues benefit from occupational therapy because of the functional approach to the treatment.
