Three-Quarters Brightness, One-Quarter Gloomy!

Oh! poor teen,
Anxiety, Mood, and Personality Disorders
your community has seen.

“Fret not! Embrace your scars.”
Excuse me! I’ve lost my ever-beloved granny
and I’m not buying “She’s joined the stars!”

Eventually, I might lose my best friend too,
one fight I pick, out of the blue,
and there goes down the drain, all the glue
that’s been holding a bunch of friends together rather few!

Do I describe my bonds as freakish or shaky?
Or do I call my functioning disrupted or disruptive?

Let’s concoct imagery in your mind…
Visualize as I narrate this scenario, almost one of a kind.
A lovable adolescent,
who intensely fears abandonment!
A supremely articulate poet,
who idealizes someone one moment
and calls them cruel in the next;
headstrong and confident about their own art,
while frequently engaging in self-harm,
whose mood swings from extreme happiness
to the most discomfort at petty matters
and a whole lot more!

Saw how I pitted a positive, desirable attribute
against a maladaptive, annoying snoot?

Individuals with Bipolar Personality Disorder
just like us, are replete with their sets of plus and minus.
Let’s not make her feel as if they all ignored her.
All they need from you is a tad bit of kindness.

BPD is treatable, yet chronic;
can last for years or even a lifetime, isn’t it ironic?
It requires a medical diagnosis upon observation
of persistent symptoms.

When upset,
they’re unable to think straight
or calm themselves in a healthy way,
saying hurtful things or causing danger how their emotions they may display.
BPD comes in unison with anxiety,

eating disorder and depression.
Coded under the domain of psychiatry,
‘On the edge'- the paltry too can trigger intense reactions.

Closing thoughts- They already bear turmoil,
as empathetic companions,
ensure that those with BPD, do not recoil
upon their intrusive thoughts amidst conversations.
